Also subscribed. The drawing got me before reading further. I’d love to past a fixed one of the fleshed out version w/ prescriptions.
I’d add the militarization of our police to the causes of our civil violence and the justifiable vaccination mistrust and subsequent rise in polio in Pakistan and Afghanistan speaks further to the need for a robust WHO. Thanks for enlightening and let’s all push for more transparency and deeper thought about consequences.
Subscribed. Just want to use this opportunity to thank you Bob for your enlightening and stimulating books, MOL, BH’s and other ways of sharing ideas. They have enriched my life.
Subscribed without hesitation! Nonzero came on my radar when I saw the December WaPo article about Biden's foreign policy team being full of idealists and I was hooked by the concept of "progressive realism". Didn't take much more than the recent posts to persuade me. Of course, I still have all that past content to read up on too, wish I'd found this newsletter sooner.
Happily subscribed, and hoping for more mindfulness/Buddhism/meditation material. I'm compelled by the foreign and domestic policy reflections, but I find them even more compelling when spliced with interviews with folks like Joseph Goldstein, or with your own reflections on how the practice has helped you manage the specter of a dawning apocalypse, or the distractions and irritations of ordinary life. I'd like to see more of this on the Wright Show, as well.
Some stream of consciousness thoughts. Hope it's not too rough, directed at someone who's shaped my thinking as much as any teacher I've had through multiple degrees and executive roles.
1 - Very interested in you (and what your big idea, channeled and amplified properly, can do). Not interested in the paid newsletter.
2 - Interested in you, because I believe the message of Non-Zero is the perfect antidote to the BIG LIE, that enabled Trump's Big Lie to flourish.
3 - The BIG LIE that the right has told for years is "government = bad". Which has polarized many in this country against the federal government. Yes, all forms of large organizations have corruption, but the US' system facilitates cooperation (non-zero) sum interactions as well, if not better than, any system mankind has seen (IMHO).
4 - Trumpism, born out of narcissism, is rooted in a dog eat do world view, governed by zero sum interactions, which if multiplied, will transform us towards a bunch of monkeys with opposable thumbs.
5 - So what? I believe a more specialized version of your newsletter, that will reach even fewer people will entertain those who already buy into your thinking. That mental masturbation, while interesting, won't move masses. I believe your message, molded for the masses, will move our collective thinking towards "government = good." Because having been an executive at large organizations and small organizations, I believe that a balance between the individual, the corporation, and the governing entity will allow mankind to realize its potential.
Wish I could tell you how right now (it would be worth a few more brain cycles that I'd invest the time in) ... but I'd vote with my dollars towards simplifying and amplifying your message.
And thank you for the impact you've had on my world view.
Seriously Bob. No discount for annual subscriptions? The number of writers who think their writing is worth an individual subscription is W. The number of writers whose writing is actually worth an individual subscription is A, where A < W for all whole numbers. Help us consider you an A among all the W! :-)
Actually, I don't want to encourage annual subscriptions. (Being paid for so much work I haven't done yet makes me nervous!) But substack forces you to offer an annual subscription, and I figured if I offered no discount that would discourage annual subscriptions...
I like your Apocalypse cartoon, but while "Climate" is indeed a legitimate candidate, I don't think it's accurate to lump it into the "present" bin. Each year we ignore the problem makes dealing with it more troublesome, but I think its immediacy is overstated.
Instant subscription from me, excited to see what evolves. Keep up the great work!

I’m one appreciative fan.
Subscibed before finishing paragraph 2 above! So pleased & honored to be a long-time reader and an early adopter to the new mode! #EvolvingGodSpeed!

Subscribed without hesitation at the thought of being able to be part of something bigger.

Makes sense. Thanks.
